MARC PETRELIS
Production Designer
Marc is an Honours student at AFDA institution in Cape Town, majoring in Production design with a primary focus on developing a fundamental foundation for integrating 3D Printing technology. Marc was born in Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape but his hometown is Jeffreys Bay but he is looking to make Cape Town a home base if the opportunity arises. However, before he ever had the slightest thought that he’d be studying motion pictures he was still a full-time waiter but one day he met someone who had experience in the film industry, showing him its practical and artistic joys, which then he saw an opportunity for my artistic passions and interests to grow.
Furthermore, Marc got to know a lot of things about film sets and what he created as he was a freelancer for the art departments such as production design and SFX designs. He spent roughly around six months doing personal projects for comic cons and had a stall selling props and art which felt like a community he belonged to, from there he was set to follow the path in the production design world of film as the possibilities of one’s imagination could run wild with trying to create great new visuals for the cinema experience.
What Marc absolutely loves is that his hobbies fall into the art departments of the film so every time he’s “working” it doesn't feel like work it rather just feels like there isn't anything better he could be doing than creating things out of nothing and building things that haven't been seen before.
